Member Code of Conduct

Stonewall Sports DC (the “Chapter”)  is committed to the ideals of diversity and inclusion. We believe every person has the right to feel safe and comfortable being themselves while engaged in organized athletics. As such, we are committed to providing an experience that affirms the dignity and value of all individuals without regard to age, race, ethnicity, national origin, religious or spiritual beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, socioeconomic status, physical or mental abilities, size, appearance, or any other basis for exclusion.

That commitment is enshrined in our policies. Violation of any of these policies will subject the violating member to potential disciplinary action.  Disciplinary action may include verbal warnings, written warnings, and suspensions. Disciplinary action will be determined by the relevant sport committee based on the facts of each specific situation. If the violation is repetitive or particularly egregious, Chapter expulsion is possible as determined by the Executive Board. If expelled, a member will not be refunded any registration fees.

Members should:

  1. Set a positive example for others and encourage everyone to fully participate in all Chapter and League activities.
  2. Always have regard for the best interests of each sport, including when publicly expressing an opinion on each sport and any particular aspect of it, including others involved in the sport.
  3. Know and abide by the rules and spirit of each sport.
  4. Accept success and failure, victory, and defeat with an equal measure of dignity.
  5. Treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of any game/match.
  6. Safeguard the physical fitness of all members, avoid violence and rough play, and help injured members.
  7. Show due respect towards sport officials and accept the decisions of sport officials without protest.
  8. Do not become excessively drunk or participate in illegal drug activities while at Chapter functions, while wearing a Stonewall-branded shirt, or operating in any capacity where you are seen as a member of the organization.
  9. Adhere to the Chapter’s policies and guidelines.
