Stonewall Sports DC (the “Chapter”) is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all members can participate fully and confidently. We believe that all members play a role in creating a healthy, encouraging environment. This includes looking out for one another, speaking up when something feels off, and seeking help when needed.
Members may report concerns regarding a violation of a Chapter policy or code of conduct at a Chapter function to any available onsite Officer or Committee Member. Officers or Committee Members will then relay the incident to the Director, Diversity, Equity + Inclusion (DEI) for formal processing. If an Officer or Committee Member is not available at a Chapter-sponsored function, the incident should be reported via the designated online reporting process.
The Chapter takes all reports seriously and commits to:
- Listening without judgment,
- Maintaining confidentiality to the greatest extent possible,
- Responding promptly and appropriately,
- Providing support resources when needed, and
- Taking appropriate action based on the severity of the situation.
No member will face retaliation for raising a concern in good faith.
When harm occurs, intentional or not, we address it with fairness, transparency, and a focus on learning, restoration, and prevention. The Chapter will take the following actions when a concern or incident is reported:
- Acknowledge the report and ensure the immediate safety of those involved,
- Assess the situation to determine whether it is within the jurisdiction of the Chapter and, if so, determine the type and level of intervention required,
- Take action, which may include mediation, restorative conversations, temporary restrictions, and/or disciplinary action up to expulsion from the Chapter, and
- Follow up with the reporting party and any affected members to ensure ongoing safety and support.
Following an allegation of misconduct by a member, the Director, DEI will determine if the allegation is within the jurisdiction of the Chapter. If the allegation is within the jurisdiction of the Chapter, the Director, DEI will turn over formal investigation proceedings to the relevant Commissioner who will then carry out any required actions to resolve the complaint. If the complaint involves participants in more than one sport, the Director, DEI will lead investigation proceedings and carry out any required actions to resolve the complaint.
Commissioners should consult with the Director, DEI as needed regarding investigation procedures and determining appropriate follow up actions. Commissioners will file formal reports with the Director, DEI once the investigation has been completed.
Members who have been disciplined may appeal to the President. Members will not be refunded any registration fees if they are disciplined.
