Stonewall Sports DC (the “Chapter”) is committed to providing a sports and social environment free from harassment in all areas. Harassment is any behavior that is unwelcome and offensive to the person or persons towards whom it is targeted, whether in person or online. This policy expressly forbids such behavior. All Stonewall Sports DC members are expected and required to abide by this policy. No person will be adversely affected in terms of their association with Stonewall Sports DC as a result of bringing forward complaints of harassment.
The term “harassment” refers to written, graphic, verbal, or physical conduct that has the purpose or effect of creating an unduly intimidating environment which is sufficiently severe, pervasive, or persistent such that it interferes significantly with another individual’s ability to engage with or function within their team and/or the Chapter. Sexual harassment is behavior of a sexual nature that is unwelcome and offensive to the person or persons it is targeted toward. Examples of harassing behavior may include unwanted physical contact, foul language of an offensive sexual nature, sexual propositions, sexual jokes or remarks, obscene gestures, and displays of pornographic or sexually explicit pictures, drawings, or caricatures, whether in person or online.
Harassment, sexual or otherwise, of other members of Stonewall Sports DC is expressly forbidden. Additionally, the harassment of non-members attending Stonewall Sports DC events, including volunteers and spectators, is prohibited.
Members should be mindful that maintaining a safe space for everyone in the Chapter requires that there be verbal and affirmative expression of consent between members and that members respect the boundaries of others. Consenting to one activity, one time, does not imply continued consent and consent may be withdrawn at any time. No one should feel pressured to engage in or be subject to any activity that is uncomfortable and unwanted.
If any member of Stonewall Sports DC feels that they have been harassed based on their age, sex, race, national origin, ethnic background, or any other personal characteristic, they should immediately report the matter to the Director, Diversity, Equity + Inclusion through the Chapter’s designated reporting process. Once the matter has been reported it will be promptly investigated, and any necessary corrective action will be taken where appropriate. All complaints of harassment will be handled in as discreet and timely a manner as is possible under the circumstances.
